On the way home from Work tonight, I stopped at Bill and Lilian's to do a little shopping. While I was there I got to looking at the Renaissance wax and thought "Why not give it a try?" So here I sit having just finished waxing a small vase I turned on the weekend and I've decided that I really like the look and feel of this stuff! So for those of you that have not tried it, go get some!

It goes on every pen I make in wood. Great as It also protects against finger prints on them.

Paul~ Good choice. I too use it on every pen I make as a final top coat. It seems to work well, haven't had any complaints yet !

I also use it on every pen i make, i assemble the pen first and then give the whole lot a coat with Renwax.

Paul,

I use it on all of my pens and other stuff I've turned.

It also works beautifully on acrylic, not just wood.

Marcel

It is good stuff. I wax the finished blanks and then do a second wax on the finished pen with hardware.
I am glad to see more places sell it now in Canada. Three years ago it was very hard to find here. I had to buy mine on a trip down to the US.

if im not mistaken....lee valley uses a wax that has the same properties as ren wax called conservators wax at a fraction of the cost....

I do believe that it is pretty much the same....I have that one from Lee Valley and it goes on every pen...

Is it actually the same stuff, Bob? Have you compared the two up close and personal like? Price wise, I just compared Wood & Whimsie. They have Ren wax, 7oz for $3.50 per oz and PSI is $8 per oz. Lv has the other wax 4.4 oz for $2.61 per oz

Looks like LV is best by almost a buck and if they are the same product, hey!

I have both waxes and IMHO the Ren wax is better. It seems to buff out to a nicer gloss and protects against finger prints better.
..your mileage might vary...
