No this isn't another thread asking about how much to charge for pens. I think I have that under control. My question is how do you put the prices on the pens or advertise the price for your pens at shows.
I have used the tags with strings but spent more time trying to untangle strings than I cared for. I have tried the jewelry tags but don't like that because it takes away from the pen and end up with the sticky residue on the clip and risk scratching the clip when you cut them off.
So lets have it. Any ideas out there and feel free to include pics if you want to.

Lol. I did the same thing tags with strings. No more of that now. I got the price tags from www and now put them on the clip of each pen. RB001 as an example to track.
On an excell Sheet I have rb001 for rollerball 1 description. Price, hardware etc.
At a show I will simply have the stuff set up and seperated according to bulk pricing slimlines plain 1 price. Segmented sl together 1 price. I have a label machine so I can label the table in front of a set of pens on a stand with a price for each. Expensive good kits, if I have the room, in the boxes set up nice with individual pricing.
In essence because each pen is individually numbered and in my excel pen stock I can quickly look up the information and not even put price tags anywhere. Sometimes I don't want to display prices as it makes the customer ask questions And show intrest about your product. I find talking and explaining everything sells the product.
Looks like I am rambling on here sorry.

Here's what I am using.
http://www.penturners.org/forum/showthread.php?t=7662
A price tag goes on every pen with it's inventory # on the reverse side. I'm using the white ones, after trying the see through ones.
Jamie; I have quite a few and can send you 10 or so in an envelope if you'd like to try them.

[quote]Sometimes I don't want to display prices as it makes the customer ask questions I'm the exact opposite in this regard. I want all my prices shown. I don't want customers picking up a pen to look at it if it's out of their price range. There's no sense in them picking up a $75.00 Baron/Sedona etc. when they know it's out of their price range.
I also use the jewlery stickers from WWW. They have no adhesive in the middle where they wrap around the clip.

I write a pen number, the wood type, and a price on each one.

I use these round ones with no glue around the middle to stick to the clips and are small enough not to be obtrusive. I found the API ones too large and obtrusive.

I also use the same tags WWW sells except I purchased mine before WWW had them. I love the ones Mack has, wish I knew about them before but I have too many tags to use up to change my pricing now!!!
Anyway ... on one side of the tag I have the pen number and the other side of the tag is the price. I would rather have people see the prices and make the decision rather than asking. I know when I shop if I don't see the price I put it back on the shelf and I don't want someone doing that with my pen. I also group all the "better" platings together, usually in my glass display cases and keep the price tag on where people can see it.

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions.
I also use the same tags that Mack does... but I used the frosted coloured ones. I bought them from the same member at the IPA website as noted in Macks link. They are easy to put on the clip of the pen, can be removed with damaging the clip and they don't leave gummy residue.

Same here Marla; only I don't have a Pete to make me glass display cases.:D My pens are out in the open!

The timing on this thread is great, I was actually out to Staple and Michaels this afternoon looking for price tickets for my pens (no luck by the way, not even close).
I have seen Macks pens with the price tickets but never thought to ask where he got them from, now I know.
Thanks to everyone,
Rob

Yes, but I think two would be too many most of the time. Don't you have a Mrs. Cameron that makes cabinets and display cases??? ;)

Now Sudoku, crosswords, and mystery novels, that's a different matter!

I think Jodi must be related to Lucy. When she goes to the basement it is only far enough to clean the litter box which is right at the bottom of the stairs and is reading books constantly.

I guess it could always be worse, you could have to clean out a corner of your shop to make room for them!! Or even worse, they clean the corner out for you!! ;)

I use those small acrylic frames (approx 2 x 3) and put name and price info on a card in the frame.
I then group my pens together.
No price on pen, but used to use jewelery tags but as noted elsewhere they fall of or get tangled. The small WWW lables are OK, but I have trouble writing small and legible.
