Can anyone confirm what size collets are used in the PSI Collet Chuck System? Are they ER32? I wan't to get some additional sizes the kit comes with 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 5/8" & 3/4" but I want a couple of "intermediates".
TIA, David

The link probably has more than you ever needed to know about tapers, holders, collets and so on. I think there is enough on the ER collet that you can measure the PSI ones and match it to the appropriate ER. I'm pretty sure that PSI used a standard design rather than design a proprietary one of their own.

Your sizes are correct David. If you want a better selection of ER32 collets I purchased a full set of fractional collets off of Ebay from a seller named 800watt. He sells the fractional and the metric sets. I was advised afterwards that the metric is actually a better set to purchase because the sizes overlap each other better than the fractional set does. The meteric set ranges from 3mm - 20mm and the fractional set ranges from 1/8" - 3/4" and each set contains 18 pieces each. The price varies on his listings from $76 to $87.....not sure why?

The prices on 800Watt vary for the same product. When I bought my ER32 metric set (3-20 mm) in April prices ranged from $59 to $79 US. I was able to get a 18 pc set for $59 + $27 US shipping.

Just PM 800watt and ask him whats up with the pricing. I bet he lets you have them for the lower price. I have bought a few things off of him and he has not been a problem to deal with.

LesHi Les, not Wade, but I've been following a post on IAP and from what I understand if it is the real Beall chuck it takes ER 32 collets and the ones 800 Watt sells will work. I'm very close to ordering a set of his metric 3 - 20 mm.

Watch his prices. Apparently he has different prices posted on eBay.

Hi Les - when you see messages you suspect are spam, please report them directly to us so we can deal with it. It's quicker than simply posting in the thread as I'm not online all the time.

Thanks,

Les...

Yes, the Lee Valley chuck is made by Beal. Although LV doesn't seem to advertise this... but the name on the box and instructions are from Beal. And, yes the ER32 collets I bought from 1-800 Watt fit the LV chuck. The collects are pretty good quality also.

Thanks Wade.

I have asked 800Watt what his best price is due his varing price ranges.
Will see what price he comes up with before I order a set.
