This is a piece of Amboyna wrapped in a REC NBS reel seat skeleton.

Not me, but I work with a guy that fishes all winter long, in any weather, all over the province, as long as the line isn't icing up too bad. He would appreciate your work. :)

Thank you Pete ... never done much fishing in winter except when I lived in California ... been thinking about the Steelhead fishing here and have a new rod blank to consider wrapping for that.
That piece of amboyna actually split in two pieces when I was too aggressive with my parabolic drill bit as it caught the wood and spun in my vise and split ...
After a few strong adjectives like, AWWWWWW CRAP!, I glued it back together and this was the result.
I'm not making pens at the moment ...
A couple of more out of Mesquite Burl.

I used to fish in the Puget Sound when I was stationed at Ft. Lewis but never with anything that nice. I snagged a submarine once. Rhossack knows that I'm telling the truth. The Navy had a sub base there. You could tell when you snagged one. It just kept on keeping on at a steady pace. Their conning towers must have been draped in fish line.
