This is the kind of things I did before I got hooked on the pen thing!!
First pic is of a pair of folding Adirondack chairs and a stool. My wife just finished painting them. Also made the folding cedar serving tray in the back.
Second and third pics are of an oak Mission style couch that I made. After this one was finished I also made the matching Loveseat.

Nice job on the Mission Furniture Jeff, a good solid piece.

A little story about the Adirondacks. Several years ago during a move I needed a place to store my materials from the wood shed until I set up another. My brother in law volunteered his garage and I accepted the offer.

He has never expressed any interest in woodworking and indeed has no real tools. Who knew he would decide to build a couple Adirondacks for his back yard?

Meanwhile, part of my stash were these 100 plus year old cherry boards and beams that I had been given by a friend. Boards up to 14" wide 5/4 thick, beams 6" x 8" x 14', weighed a ton. They had been stored in the upper mow of his grandfather's barn, which became his father's barn which became his barn and he had to move.

Not knowing cherry from shoe polish my brother in law now has two beautiful vintage cherry outdoor chairs. He was rather embarassed when I told him what he had but he does take extra good care of them. Actually I have to admit he did a rather nice job for starting with rough lumber and using only a skill saw and a vibrating sander. His only comment was "damn that stuff is hard". Not to mention heavy; ever tried to move Adirondacks made of 5/4 cherry? I did hassle him about the stupid drywall screws and he replaced them with brass.

He bought me a beer and we had a laugh.:(:(

Wish I had some access to a little better lumber. Actually had to build these from clear pine (couldn't get any cost effective cedar). That's why they are painted!
Still cost me a small fortune for the pine though. I think there was almost $90 of wood in each chair. Some friends saw them, liked them, asked if I could make them some, bought at Canadian Tire.
Oh well

Nice chairs Jeff, I build mine from #3 !x 8 rough pine and plane them to a uniform 7/8" thick. I use #3 as I feel the knots give them some character. The wood cost .88 cents a board foot at the lumber mill and I get 2 chairs out of about 70 board feet. I hate finishing so if anybody wants them finished it's another $100/ chair, that soon puts them off LOL:D
