Trade for wood...

Hey Y'all,

I had a White Ash tree get ash beetles 3 years ago and had to cut it down. My neighbor had a Russian Olive that he cut down and gave me the logs. I started cutting it up last week. I baked the pen blanks at 200 degrees F for 24 hrs. I'm a little paranoid about critters. I have about 100 extra blanks if anybody would like to trade. I'll send you a box of 20 assorted if you would send me a kit and a blank that you think would go well with it. I'm not trying to get a $50 kit for nothing. A slimline would be fine. It should only take an envelope for you. Call it a hobby pen kit because it would be.:rolleyes: My only caveat would be that I don't want the cheapo plating that would rub off in 6 months. It's a reputation thing. Oh, The moisture % is less than 8%. Since I said that I had a 100 blanks I guess that comes out to 5 people. (5X20) The blanks are 3/4+ by 5 3/8"

I am going to mix some colored epoxy for the bug holes. I think it might look kinda nice. Let me know.

Alrighty then. I have been contacted by Mack, Mark Brown, Larry, Curly and Jason (mywoodshop) I'll get your packages out and look forward to what ever you send me. This is really exciting. Truly is like family. I just hated to see this wood sit around and not get used. I haven't turned any yet, myself, but on the surface it really looks like it could be nice. Actually I did get an ash turned just as a cylinder last week to see what it was like and it was really an attractive figure. I haven't done the X-cut or olive yet and the Ash was from a separate log than what I cut up for you people.That's why I will send you 20-25 blanks. There has got to be something worth one kit in the bunch. If not I'll send you some more till I get it right.

I probably should delete this thread in a couple days, right? I'm not sure.
