Hi everyone…
Originally from NE England, I moved to BC 5 years ago. I’d expressed an interest in turning & I got a lathe (General Maxi) for Christmas 2006.:) I was away at the time in UK, my partner bought it, picked it up, got it home, wrapped it & put it under the tree all by herself (it only weighs 50kg!) Unfortunately I didn’t get it set up until recently so haven’t done much turning as yet. I’m a real beginner turner so I’m hoping you guys & gals will be free with your advice & assistance & I hope I don’t ask too many previously answered questions.

Hello slivermetimber. Welcome to the forum & a belated welcome to Canada.
I've only been here (this forum) a couple of days, but so far it has been good.
New turner eh? I'm fairly new to turning myself (3 years). I find that pens are fairly easy to do. That probably is because they are small.
Books. Turning pens & pencils by Kip Christensen and Rex Burningham is one that I liked. I have a few others this one I like the most.
Videos. I've only one its called Turning Wood with Richard Raffan. I like it a lot, ummm I had nothing else to learn by so that may have a lot to do with it.
Oops oh yea the net. Lots of information out here. Besides this forum I also like the "Yahoo penturners group" forum. IAP international association of penturners (I think thats what it stands for) anyway both of those forums have a lot of info in there files areas.
Once again Welcome.
